SXSW Shout Out: Meet Mitchell Cohen

Monday night, Chris and I went to the Bootstrappers and Beer meetup in Austin hosted by Bootstrap Austin. We were introduced to their impressive organization, and met some amazing people, one of which was Mitchell Cohen. Mitchell is a Junior at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec.

Mitchell impressed me because he walked right up to us, and with a firm hand shake introduced himself. He told us that he reads our blog and that he found our current projects interesting. He’s a college student, but has already started and sold a business of his own. He said that he is currently starting a new venture (maybe related to affiliate marketing) so that he can “transition to [his] own company instead of having to look for work for someone else.” This is my kind of guy.

Mitchell doesn’t have a blog, yet. As soon as he gets something up and lets us know, I’ll link to it. This is a bright guy with a bright future ahead of him. Man, I sound old (I’m only 25). Keep an eye on this guy, he’s sure to make a stir.

    Chris Schultz says:

What was really neat for me was meeting a member of our blog community in person. With all the recent updates in social networking (Mybloglog, etc), you feel like you know most people personally who do read the blog. But here was a guy, who out of te blue walked up to us, and we had a chance to really connect with him. It was really rewarding for me personally, to have someone introduce themselves and let me know how much they enjoy what we are doing with this blog. In other words, it felt great! Thanks Mitch.

    Mitch Cohen says:

Hey guys. Thanks so much for those kind words, I really appreciate it. It was great having the opportunity to meet you two at SXSW as well. As I was saying at the conference, the power of blogging has made it such that, instead of spending the entire conversation learning about what you guys did, we were able to jump right into deeper and more interesting conversation. I’m hooked, and I’ll be putting up a blog of my own within 48-hours.

Again, I really appreciate your writing that blog post about me. I was shocked when I logged onto my computer this morning and saw my name in my RSS feeds (pleasantly shocked). I’ll update you with a link once my blog is up and running. Thanks so much again guys, it was great having the opportunity to meet the face behind Voodoo Ventures. Let’s keep in touch.

    Blake Killian says:

Echoing what Chris said. It did feel really validating to meet Mitch in person. MyBlogLog is awesome, and helps us feel that connection, but as much as we like to think that technology will solve every problem we have, it will never replace a handshake and a noisy conversation over beers. bk

Voodoo Ventures - Idea Fuel Blog : Blog Archive : Our interview with ClixConnect.com says:

[...] A few months ago, we met Mitchell Cohen at SXSW. He’s a passionate entrepreneur who’s already sold one of his companies, and is starting another (or two). Did I mention he’s 20? His new company, ClixConnect.com, offers 24/7/365 live-chat support for the little guy (aka not Nordstrom or Amazon). I love stories like this, and we’ll continue to follow Mitchell’s path to complete world domination. In the meantime, chew on this interview: [...]
